BCBA Fieldwork Supervision

Remote fieldwork supervision is available for BCBA candidates completing their supervised fieldwork requirements.

My goal is to provide supervision that goes beyond simply meeting the required supervision percentage. Supervision focuses on developing the clinical judgment, practical skills, ethical decision-making, and competency needed to work effectively as a behavior analyst.

Supervision is individualized based on your fieldwork setting, experience, current skill level, and the types of activities available to you.

Who Is This For?

Supervision may be a good fit for candidates who:

  • Meet BACB eligibility requirements for accruing supervised fieldwork

  • Are enrolled in or have completed the appropriate ABA coursework or degree requirements

  • Have their own employment, placement, or client access through which fieldwork hours can be accrued

  • Have access to both restricted and unrestricted fieldwork activities

  • Are able to obtain any necessary employer, site, and client consent for remote supervision and observation

  • Have access to a computer, reliable internet connection, webcam, microphone, and a way to complete live or recorded observations

  • Are prepared to actively participate in supervision and complete assigned activities outside of meetings when applicable

Please note: I do not provide clients, employment, or fieldwork placements. Candidates must already have access to an appropriate setting in which they can accrue eligible fieldwork hours.

What Does Supervision Include?

Supervision is provided remotely and is structured around your individual fieldwork experience and BACB requirements.

Depending on your fieldwork activities and training needs, supervision may include:

  • Individual supervision meetings

  • Required client observations

  • Review of clinical programs and documentation

  • Data collection, graphing, and interpretation

  • Assessment and treatment planning

  • Behavior-analytic concepts and principles

  • Research and literature review

  • Ethical and professional decision-making

  • Case conceptualization and problem-solving

  • Feedback on clinical performance

  • Development of unrestricted fieldwork activities

  • Discussion of professional and clinical situations encountered in your fieldwork setting

Supervision is intended to help you connect what you are learning academically with the decisions and responsibilities you will encounter as a practicing behavior analyst.

How Does It Work?

Getting Started

We will begin with an initial meeting to discuss your current fieldwork setting, anticipated fieldwork hours per supervisory period, available restricted and unrestricted activities, supervision needs, and goals.

Before beginning fieldwork supervision, we will review and complete the required supervision agreement and establish a plan for meetings, observations, documentation, and communication.

Ongoing Supervision

The amount of supervision you receive is based on the number and type of fieldwork hours you accrue and the current BACB requirements applicable to your fieldwork.

Meetings are scheduled throughout the month and may include case discussion, clinical problem-solving, review of unrestricted activities, feedback, ethics, research, data analysis, program development, and other competency-building activities.

Observations

Client observations will be incorporated into supervision as required by the BACB. Observations may occur live through telehealth or through appropriately consented recorded sessions, depending on your setting and circumstances.

Candidates are responsible for ensuring that all necessary permissions and consents are in place before any client information or recordings are shared.

Cost

Supervision is $80 per hour.

Rather than charging a flat monthly fee, supervision is billed hourly so that the amount of supervision can correspond with the fieldwork hours you actually accrue and the supervision you require.

The amount of supervision required will depend on your fieldwork type, total fieldwork hours accrued during the supervisory period, and current BACB requirements.

Location

All supervision is provided remotely.

I am a California-based BCBA and may provide fieldwork supervision to candidates in locations where remote supervision by an out-of-state BCBA is permitted. Candidates are responsible for ensuring that their fieldwork setting and location allow this arrangement.

Ready to Get Started?

If you are interested in supervision, reach out to tell me a little about where you are in your program, your current fieldwork setting, approximately how many fieldwork hours you expect to accrue during each supervisory period, and when you are hoping to begin.

From there, we can determine whether my supervision model is a good fit for your fieldwork needs.
